About the Granite State Modelers Club

The Granite State Modelers Club was founded in 1984, chartered as an IPMS affiliate club in 1991. Our members build scale model kits covering a wide range of subjects, including aircraft, military vehicles, ships, trains, science fiction, Gundams, and just about anything else you can imagine.

At our monthly club meetings, members share their latest work in progress and completed builds during our Show and Tell segment. This is an opportunity to exchange ideas, experience, and knowledge about model building, painting, weathering, and other techniques. We also discuss news, new releases, upcoming events, and other topics related to our hobby.

The Instruction Sheet

Each month, club members receive our award-winning newsletter, The Instruction Sheet. It recaps the latest club meeting and features photos of the work in progress and completed model kits members brought for Show and Tell. The newsletter also includes information about upcoming regional model shows, contests, and other events.

Information about these events can also be found on our Facebook page and here on our website.

GraniteCon

Each year, the Granite State Modelers Club hosts GraniteCon, our annual scale model contest. Modelers from our club and from other clubs and communities bring their work to be judged across a wide variety of categories.

At the end of the day, trophies are presented to the top three entries in each category, along with “Best Of” awards in numerous classes and our coveted “Best of Show” award.

GraniteCon is one of the ways our club helps promote and preserve the scale modeling hobby we all enjoy. It is also our primary fundraising and outreach event of the year. The show allows visitors to see an incredible variety of model-building work from our members and modelers from across the region, all in one place.

Just as importantly, GraniteCon is a great way to introduce the hobby to a new generation of modelers and encourage those who built models in the past to rediscover the enjoyment of the hobby.

Our Affiliation

The Granite State Modelers Club is a chartered chapter of the International Plastic Modelers Society (IPMS). Membership in IPMS is not required to join our club, although we encourage our members to consider becoming IPMS members as well.

Whether you're an experienced modeler, just getting started, or someone who hasn't built a model in years, we welcome anyone with an interest in the hobby.

Nashua Telegraph Article

An article published in the Nashua Telegraph featured GSMC gave a pretty good description of what we are about.
